Dreaming of Oranges
by Lynnette de Sandoval del Valle de los Unicornios
This poem was my winning entry for Gyldenholt Bard of the Grove competition (6/24/23). The bardic
theme was Orange.
Gyldenholt's theme is orange
So I'm writing a poem about orange
And spending my time,
Looking for a rhyme.
What the heck rhymes with orange
I'm wearing my coat of orange
From my Palio team's green and orange.
So garb is covered,
By a coat recovered.
What else can I do with an orange?
I know, I'll juggle with oranges!
How hard can it be to juggle oranges?
One's not so hard!
With two, I'm unscared!
Oops! Three is too many oranges!
So let's try squeezing an orange,
I love the juice of an orange!
I'll give it a roll,
Then cut a hole ...
Eureka! The juice of an orange!
Wait! Let's pronounce it as or-inge!
Now it rhymes with syringe!
Mispronouncing the name,
Changes the game!!
It also rhymes with door hinge!!
I've done all I can with the theme:
Wear it, juggle it, and a stream!
And it took some time,
But I managed to rhyme!
All in Service to the orange dream!
