My Cross Stitch Trims

It all started with:

Acorns

Feb 2021: I entered into an Arts Duel with Kungund Benehonig. We decided on a medieval pattern that included acorns because of her work with kids in the SCA and a song she had written on the subject.

Shortly afterwards, things changed in her life and she couldn't follow through with the contest. Tracy the Gray took up my challenge and we agreed to stitch 1 yard of that trim.

April 22, 2021: I finished my yard of acorn trim

July 2021: The results were judged by Melinda Sherbring.

Tracy won by 2 points, with 55 out of 55 points!

Bees

Jan 14, 2022: Kungund posted a knit or weaving pattern of repeating bees in 6 sided "honeycombs" pattern.

Jan 15, 2022: I modified it for cross stitch. Making several changes to make it more bee like and I started stitching 2 yards of bee and honeycomb trim.

July 2, 2023: I designed a fill pattern to go into some of the honeycombs because that's a LOT of bees to stitch!

July, 23 2023: Finished the bee trim

July, 29 2023: I entered my bee trim in the arts competition at Dreiburgen Summer Arts and won the open category.
